My name is Maura Boyce. I am from Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. I attended St. Thomas the Apostle School from kindergarten through eighth grade, and currently attend Garnet Valley High School where I am a senior. I have a love for learning and I always have. I plan to encourage this love for learning all throughout my life, because you never stop learning. My favorite subjects in school are sciences and math, because I like to problem solve. Outside of school, I enjoy Irish dance, competitive cheerleading, diving, and gymnastics. I love to be doing something at all times, never sitting around. I have some sort of practice or competition every night, so I’m always busy, but that is how I like my life to be. I am a good time manager, so I am able to keep up with my schoolwork and social life on top of this. I am skilled in problem solving, individual and group work, time-management, and adapting to new environments. These skills apply to my future career choices, which are all involved with the field of medicine. I love children, so I would love to work with them one day as well. I plan to be either a nurse or a doctor, but I am still deciding what specialty. I have always been interested in both medicine and children. I was certified in CPR and first aid at age 12 and have been babysitting since around the same age. I also completed a class at my school called “Preschool Laboratory”, where I earned CDA training hours. I learned how to classify the development of children and understand why they demonstrated certain behaviors. I believe all these have led to my desire for these certain careers. My goals are to make a career for myself in the field of medicine, whichever career I decide. I plan to work my hardest at college and keep up with my grades.
